The virtual reality market is slowly establishing itself as one of the more important aspects of technology development that will explode in the near future. HTC already released their virtual reality headset called ReVive and Oculus is one of the most futuristic VR headsets ever created.
Game developers have huge insight into the industry and possess unlimited know how and historical data connected with the gaming industry, so they’re one of the companies that have an edge when entering the VR market.
That’s probably why Starbreeze, the game developer responsible for popular titles like Payday 2, Syndicate and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, decided to start working on a virtual reality connected project.
Starbreeze acquired InfinitEye, startup company focused towards developing modern virtual reality hardware, and started developing their virtual reality prototype headset under a new name. The experienced game developer decided to go with StarVR, which is probably suitable as the chances of this headset becoming the hottest thing in the industry are high.
One of the features that make this one of the best VR headsets on the market is its unique field of view range that spreads over 210 degrees, which is 110 degrees more than what Oculus Rift has to offer, one of the leading VR hardware sets at the moment.
The headset is powered by two Quad HD 5.5 inch displays with a 2560×1440 display resolution accompanied by a futuristic fresnel lens. All of this will give gamers and users an unique virtual reality experience that you can’t get anywhere else. The motion tracking applied by StarVR is handled by fiducial markers combined with a gyroscope, accelerometer and a magnetometer.
