Just six months after releasing the second generation of smart watch Gear, and just two months after launch of the first Android Wear model, Samsung is ready to unveil new device – Gear S.
This is the first Samsung watch with built-in 3G connectivity. Gear S has the possibility to connect to 2G and 3G individually, which means that users won’t have to keep it paired with its smartphone in order to receive notifications.
Smartwatch still has WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity features, so there is still possibility of pairing with a smartphone.
Gear S comes with 2 inch AMOLED 360 x 480 curved display, which makes it pretty big comparing to competitive devices, and it is run by Samsung Tizen OS, because this system is notably weaker on the battery then Android Wear.
Samsung Gear S battery should last two days of full use without recharges. When it comes to processor Gear S is powered by 1 GHz dual core combined with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory.
Camera is missing, which will disappoint many, but it is interesting that Gear S features a QWERTY keyboard that will activate automatically when necessary.
