At the Build 2014 conference finish smartphone maker Nokia and IT giant Microsoft have unveiled two new Lumia products, and they are Nokia Lumia 630 and Nokia Lumia 635.
Lumia 603 and 635 are two budget friendly devices which come with a set of different SIM card configurations. But more important thing is that these two smartphones will be the first mobile devices that will launch with Windows Phone 8.1 which comes with Cortana, a new rival of Siri.
Nokia Lumia 630 and Nokia Lumia 635 launch
These two models are “an un-compromised Microsoft experience and an un-compromised Lumia experience to more people at much lower price points,” – Nokia Executive Vice President of Devices and Sevices Stephen Elop revealed.
The first model Lumia 630 will be arriving in two different versions, your basic and standard one SIM 3G version and a 3G dual-SIM version. This will be the first Lumia phone which will support two SIM cards, which has been enabled with the Windows Phone 8.1 update.
The Lumia 635 will only support one SIM card, but it will feature a 4G connections.
Stephen Elop has shown us that it will be really easy to check and make difference between call histories, listings and other stuff between SIM cards on Lumia 630, and that you will be able to switch call from SIM to SIM on the fly, with a simple tap.
Elop has said that the dual SIM smartphones will have an important role in the future, and that it is expected that more than 100 million of these devices will be sold in 2016.
As we are used to, the new Lumia models are again coming in five colors, and with interchangeable shells.
When it comes to hardware both models are featuring 4.5-inch LCD displays, 1830mAh batteries and 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processors.
It has also been demonstrated by Elop that the new three-column interface which is an update for WP 8.1 works flawlessly even on these devices with smaller displays. Of course both smartphones will feature a Microsoft’s Siri rival, Cortana.
Both Lumia 630 and Lumia 635 are arriving with Nokia apps, including Here Maps and Mix Radio, and they will also feature a Microsoft’s new built-in fitness capability, called “SensorCore.”
SensorCore will be keeping track of steps taken and how much calories has user burned by using smartphones sensors and Bing Fitness app.
The first set launch date is May in Asia, and from there they will come around the globe and will be coming to the US by July.
Lumia 630 with 3G and single SIM will have a launch price of $159, and Lumia 630 with 3G and dual SIM will launch at about $169. Nokia Lumia 635 with 4G launches at $189.
